Public Sector Case Study Working with Newcomers: Tips for Management Teams
In 2009, AWES participated in an extensive pan-Canadian review of workplace language training programs for newcomers. This joint federally and provincially-funded project drew upon input from a spectrum of stakeholders.
The project’s first advisory committee meeting culminated in certain clearly defined needs, one of which was “practical resources tailored to employers with culturally and linguistically diverse Workforces”.
AWES met with the provincial government to follow up with proposed solutions. We were able to “jump start” with an experienced team to produce a set of comprehensive tips for employers who work with newcomers.
